Cossatot River School High School's chess team was recognized last night at the April Board Meeting by Superintendent Tyler Broyles as the latest recipients of the Cossatot River Pride Certificate.
Chess club started four years ago when Jesse Dosch came to high school in seventh grade. They competed in 4 tournaments which included regional and state tournaments. They also competed at Ashdown and DMESC. At Ashdown, we had students compete in 7-9th grade and 10-12th grade categories. Two of our team members won first and second at Ashdown. Taydon Broach, 7th grade, won 2nd place and Dillon Lawrence, 9th grade, won first.
We had several unable to attend the meeting, but all of their efforts deserve recognition! Chess club members are:

The following Cossatot River High School students received honors for their performance at the state Beta convention in Hot Springs on April 8 - 9. Pictured from left to right are Laci Dixon (third in the state in grade 9 mathematics), Karah Salgado (second in the state in grade 9 Spanish), and Kelcy Frachiseur (first in the state for original apparel design). These students qualify to compete nationally in Nashville, TN, in July!

Tyson Foods of Grannis presented a check to Susan Brewer of the Cossatot River High School choir program on behalf of the Rachel Norman Memorial Choir Scholarship. This is a yearly scholarship awarded to a CRHS Sr choir member attending a 2 or 4 year university in the fall. The recipient of this scholarship will be announced at the spring concert on April 28.
